Woman seeks justice after car accident injuries

Everyone can make a mistake, but that does not excuse carelessness while operating a motor vehicle. Should that carelessness lead to a car accident that causes the injury or death of another person, the driver could be financially accountable and may be subject to a civil lawsuit. Sometimes, criminal charges apply as well. A Georgia woman was injured in a car accident and is seeking justice that the local police department claims it will not enforce.

The woman says she was in the parking lot of a retail store after making a purchase and returning to her car when another car backed out of its parking space and hit her. She claims the two of them made eye contact before the man began to drive in reverse. Not only did the car knock her to the ground, but the woman claims the driver ran over one of her legs before driving away. A dash camera on another vehicle was able to capture part of the incident.

City police said they will not charge the 61-year-old driver, as he claims he did not realize he hit anyone. It was apparently determined there was no ill intention on his part, and he apparently apologized to police for what happened. The time the woman has spent in the hospital, followed by time in a rehab facility has been close to a month. She is facing further medical procedures in the near future.

Georgia residents who have been injured in a car accident may incur medical bills that can seem insurmountable. Filing a personal injury lawsuit in pursuit of financial damages is a step many take in an effort to help lessen the burden those bills bring. An attorney can explain the options available to those who are suffering and will fight for the rights of the client throughout any ensuing legal proceedings.
