Teen dies in car accident caused by alleged drunk driver

Despite warning after warning from officers of the law, some people still choose to drive after drinking alcohol. Many of them believe nothing will happen because they have not consumed that much. Some simply do not care if they are a danger to themselves and others. No matter the thought process, there is a danger not just to themselves, but to others should their inebriated state cause a car accident resulting in injury or death. The students of one Georgia high school are joining a family in mourning the death of one of their own in a car accident police say was caused by a drunk driver.

Two brothers and their cousin were on their way to school in a Ford F-150 pickup truck when a Jeep Cherokee veered over into their lane, causing a head-on collision. The driver of the Jeep and the three boys were sent to a medical facility approximately 30 miles away. The driver of the Jeep remained in the hospital with serious injuries and the two teenage passengers in the truck suffered minor injuries. The driver of the truck, however, died after his arrival at the hospital.

Police plan to incarcerate the driver of the Jeep once she is released from the hospital. There are a number of charges against her, including homicide by vehicle and driving under the influence. The investigation will continue with the aid of a team that specializes in crash reconstruction.

As the family journeys through their grief after the car accident, they will want to consider their options. They can choose to hold the driver of the Jeep responsible for her actions by filing a wrongful death lawsuit.  A Georgia attorney can impart valuable information to help a client decide whether or not to file and will help the process go as smoothly as possible, should he or she choose to go forward.
